What materials do you use?

Pan Sunglasses is a sustainable fashion brand, and we care about the planet we inhabit. That's why the timber from our range of sunglasses is sourced from ethically grown and FSC-certified plantations. We utilise a wide range of fast-growing wood, including Zebrawood, which is an attractive pale brown material that features a unique pattern, ensuring no two products are the same. We also use Canadian Maple and Walnut within our products. Both materials are fantastic for staining and polishing, ensuring customers can always enjoy a durable and stylish pair of sunglasses.

What kind of lenses do you use?

We take great care in the quality of our products, and all of our Sunglasses feature Triacetate Cellulose (TAC) UV 400 (100% UVA/UVB) organic biodegradable polymer lenses with infused Polarising filters. We have carefully chosen our lenses for their superior clarity, high impact resistance and glare elimination. This ensures our customers can enjoy the very best vision possible, with improved sharpness and colour vibrancy.

What makes polarised lenses special?

Polarised lenses have been shown to eliminate both reflective and atmospheric glare, improving the vibrancy of colours and the sharpness of your image. This makes them a very popular choice for day-to-day usage as well as for those spending time around water, skiing and snowboarding.

How does your donation program work?

At Pan Sunglasses, we strive to be as sustainable as possible, and are currently dedicated to planting one tree for every pair sold. Additionally, we also donate 5% of our profits to a range of conservation projects and related causes. If you would like to know more about the projects and charities we support, send us a message via the Contact Page.

Do wooden sunglasses weigh more?

This is one of the most common questions we are asked by our customers. Many people mistakenly believe wooden sunglasses will weigh more, but they can actually be up to 33% lighter! Not only that, but they come with spring hinges, reducing the pressure giving you a more comfortable fit, ensuring you can wear them all day without discomfort.

How long do wooden sunglasses last for?

Our Sunglasses are designed to be incredibly durable, and the sustainable wood that we use has been chosen for its style and long-lasting ability. Just like all sunglasses, unnatural forces from sitting on them can break them, but with the right care, your sunglasses will be able to last for as long as you maintain them. To keep your wooden sunglasses in the best condition possible, you should not leave them in any extreme temperatures for too long (hot or cold), as this can affect the protective coating. You should also store them in a soft pouch or glasses case whenever they are not in use; otherwise, you can scratch the lenses. When putting the sunglasses on or tacking them off, it is always advised you use both hands, so you do not add unnecessary pressure on the spring hinge and arms.

Are Pan Sunglasses waterproof?

Yes! All of our sunglasses are waterproof and, if dropped in water, will be able to float for a short time. However, if they do get wet, then it is advised that you dry them as soon as possible. If coming into contact with salt water, rinse them with fresh water afterwards to avoid any damage from the salt.

What is FSC sustainable wood?

FSC forest management certification confirms that the forest is being managed in a way that preserves the natural ecosystem and benefits the lives of local people and workers, all while ensuring it sustains economic viability. We only work with suppliers who have been certified by the FSC, and we ensure that all of our materials have been ethically sourced and are bound by the FSC sustainable forest management standards.
